Personal liability insurance is coverage that is available to protect you in a situation where you are found liable for a variety of things. It can include such things like dog bites, slander, accident etc. Most homeowners policies have this built in and in most states you can purchase higher limits on your policy if you chose. For people who have a lot of assest, you can also purchase what is called a Personal Liability Umbrella Policy. These policies give you coverage up and above your exisitng limits on either your homeowners, auto, boat, RV etc. You pay an extra premium for these types of policys and usually have to have specific underlying limits of liability on your other household policies.
