    Many people think they have won when a blue screen appears saying something like 'there are no hosts left to infect'. You only win when a red screen appears saying 'Victory'. To achieve this you need to kill the entire population, and there is only one sure-fire to do this: infect 100% of the population without killing anyone, then start 'evolving' symptoms. To do this, spend all your DNA points on transmission characteristics (I upgrade 1 level for each transmission method), then upgrade antibiotic resistance and temperature resistance (depending on which climate you are struggling with). This is the most important point - any random mutation that appears which give symptoms must be 'devolved'. This may sound stupid, but it will ensure that you can infect every person on Earth BEFORE a cure is started. Once a message appears saying 'every person on Earth is infected', start creating symptoms - I mutate all lung symptoms down to coma as this kills everyone very quickly. Spend any points you get when people die on inhibiting the cure (in Abilities), and you should have no problem! This tactic is basically the only way you can win, and works for virtually every pathogen and every difficulty. NB you need to get a red 'Victory' screen on either Normal or Brutal to unlock Virus (and other). If you get a blue screen you are only killing most of the population, not all of it!
