Preparing Your Japan Travel Itinerary

When planning a trip to Japan, it is always best to work with an itinerary from a Japan travel guides
always include a visit to Kyoto, which is the ancient capital of Japan. Kyoto has hundreds of temples, shrines, gardens and the Imperial Palace, and you can even meet a real Kyoto geisha there. Most tour guides recommend at least 3 days in Kyoto in order to see as much as possible of the city, but if you only have a day, schedule the trip to include the most fascinating sites of all.

If you are looking for a more scenic region for photography and nature, Takayama is the place to visit. It is a culturally rich mountain town with fantastic scenery. A visit to Takayama can be done in a day, but if you do have more time, visit Shirakawago with its thatch roofed houses and attractive scenery.

For those interested in art and history of Japan, the following are some of the most popular galleries and museums for both tourists and locals in Japan: Edo Tokyo Museum, Tokyo National Museum, Ghibli Museum and the Tokyo National Science Museum. Do make prior arrangements to get all the required passes to enter these galleries and museums.

A 2 week trip to Japan is considered sufficient to cover both the traditional and modern areas of Japan, including Mt Fuji, Osaka and Hiroshima. You can take your time visiting shrines, gardens and castles, as well as doing some great shopping, enjoying meals and Japanese fashion, as well as the entertainment district of Roppongi.

Finally, ensure that your Japan hotel guide covers all the places you will need to visit. The longer the stay, the more hotels you may need to stay since it may be easier than commuting 3 hours from Tokyo to the sites, and another 3 hours back. In addition to this, ensure that the itinerary allows enough time for transportation, shopping and lunch during the sightseeing trip.
