Is there an additional 7 yrs will stay on my credit report if I pay off the card via settlement?

Is there an additional 7 yrs will stay on my credit report if I pay off the card via settlement? I plan on accepting a settlement offer from a Credit Card company for a card I a maxed out in college. Its been almost 7 yrs. i am wondering if I pay off the card via settlement is there an additional 7 yrs that it will stay on my credit report?
