How to get rid of Firefox ads?

Why can't Firefox get rid of ads even though I'm using adblocker? I'm using FireFox 3, because the newer Firefox's are not good, I am not using newer Firefox. And ads keep showing up everywhere, even though I have adblocker and adblocker plus installed into my add-ons. It is confused me. Can you give me some ways to get rid of Firefox ads? Thanks!

I have no better ideas on getting rid of Firefox ads. You can try to do this. You don't install two different add-ons that do the same thing. And, Adblock Plus is the one to keep. Adblock Plus doesn't block anything without filters, either a Filterset subscription or your own set of filters that your create over time as you see stuff, you don't want to see and block it each one one by one.
